Cake Mix Cookies

I posted last month when I was blogging for Celeb Baby Laundry but it is so yummy I wanted to share it with any new readers! Super easy, chewy, delicious and no one will even know it came from a cake mix box! My hubby’s favorite is chocolate cake mix with mint chocolate chips.

Cake Mix Cookies

1 box any flavor cake mix

1 egg

1 stick of butter (softened at room temperature)

1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Mix cake mix, egg and softened butter.

Place spoonful on a greased baking sheet about 2 inches apart.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 7 to 10 minutes.

I listed the 1 cup of chocolate chip as optional because you don’t need to add it. You can use walnuts, raisins, white chocolate chips…be creative! I’ve made chocolate cake mix with chocolate chips, chocolate cake mix with mint chocolate chips, yellow cake mix with chocolate chips (tastes like chocolate chip cookies)…yes, I am a choco-holic!

With all that extra time on your hands, you can sit back and relax! No one will ever know these yummy cookies are from a cake box!

Mommy and Me Yoga

Baby and I attended our first yoga class today! Thanks to Club Momme we enjoyed a fun yoga class with lots of other mommies and babies at the beautiful Exhale Spa. It was a beautiful, sunny day in Santa Monica and an even better day spending it with my little boy!  I consider myself to be a pretty active mama…babywearing, hiking with the dogs, walking daily but wow, mommy and me yoga is definitely harder than I thought. I didn’t realize how much extra work it is to lift another 20 pounds of baby! The babies in the class ranged from 10 weeks old to a few years old. I had a blast and we can’t wait for our next mommy and me yoga class! Maybe daddy will get in on the fun too!

Happy Family Review and Giveaway

Image

Our family loves Happy Family!

We started baby on the Happy Bellies brown rice cereal at 5 months and now he’s 7 months and loving the Happy Bellies oatmeal, Happy Puffs, Happy Pouches. There are a lot of rice cereal choices out there but we decided to go with Happy Family Happy Bellies Brown Rice Cereal because it is gluten-free, whole grains packed with essential vitamins like iron, choline, DHA, as well as pre and probiotics . We recently started the simple combos and there hasn’t been a flavor he didn’t like but his favorite is still the kiwi and banana…AND just this week he started eating the Happy Puffs on his own (sorry, proud mama moment – I got a little teary eyed because my baby is growing up so fast!)

Image

Why do we love Happy Family? First and foremost, it is owned and operated by moms. As a mom, I can truly appreciate products made by parents. Started on Mother’s Day in 2006, Happy Family’s products deliver superb nutrition with vitamins, minerals, probiotics and supergrains.  Sometimes buying organic can equate to more expensive but not Happy Family.  All of their products are very affordable and it is the only thing I trust for my baby’s growing body and mind.

But wait, Happy Family isn’t just for babys, toddlers and little kids…it’s for BIG kids too! My hubby and I chilled the Happy Squeeze treat caramel apple for a late night snack and loved it. It seriously tasted like a caramel apple with only 100 calories! We even take it with us on our outings to the zoo and my husband eats it as an afternoon snack to get him through the work day. It’s a yummy treat packed with lots of minerals, vitamins and ½ a cup of fruit!

Organic, enriched with lots of vitamins and minerals, no artificial ingredients, no artificial preservatives and a company that cares about the environment – that’s what makes this mama a very “happy mama” !

Another great benefit to Happy Family is every time you buy a Happy Family product, you also feed a starving child in Africa through Project Peanut Butter. You can find out more information about Project Peanut Butter on their website at http://happyfamilybrands.com/.

MommiesFirst Box

I got my first MommiesFirst box in the mail last week and I love it! If you haven’t heard about it, MommiesFirst is a monthly membership program that allows you to receive specially designed packages from pregnancy through baby’s first year for about $30 a month with free shipping.  The care packages have 4 – 5 hand-picked products for you and baby.

As a new mom, the amount of information and baby products out there can be overwhelming. MommiesFirst makes it easier for new moms to try out safe and effective products with a personalized touch.

What I love about MommiesFirst boxes:

–       MommiesFirst boxes prefer eco-friendly or sustainable products.

–       It takes the stress out of trying a whole bunch of products. The items in the box are quality products that MommiesFirst Council members have tested and reviewed.

–       It’s simple and personalized care packages are delivered every month.

–       The products are tailored specifically for your baby’s age.

–       It is a great value for the products you receive in the box.

Our first box came when Baby C was 5 months old. It was great because it was customized by his age. It came in a nice brown box with our five items wrapped in tissue. Here’s what we got in our MommiesFirst box:

–       Boogie Wipes

–       Clean Well: Lavender Hand Soap

–       Munchkin Front Teether Toy

–       Thera Wise Antibacterial Toothbrush

–       Weleda: Calendula Weather Protection Cream

Image

Everything in the box was a full size product. There was a note card for each product with a description, how to use it, why it was choosen for the box, where to find it and the

price range.

To be completely honest, we would have never tried these products if it weren’t for our MommiesFirst box. We love “trying” out all the goodies and it was so nice to get our first box in the mail.

MommiesFirst even has a shower box! My best friend is pregnant and this would be a perfect shower gift! I’m thinking about splitting the Shower Box and three month subscription with our two other friends.  It is such a cute idea!

Day in the Life of a New Dad

Image

Okay, I know it’s not Father’s Day yet but me and baby C couldn’t wait to give my husband his gift! Can I just say…he LOVED LOVED LOVED his Philips Norelco SensoTouch 3D razor! It is his first electric razor and it has definitely helped him multi-task in the mornings! Baby C and I even did a smoothness test…and he passed! His skin felt more touchable and softer for kisses!

I had a great time partying with those crazy and fun loving guys at @HowToBeADad, as well as @AVENT_US and @shaveexperts. Congrats to the winners! And if you still haven’t bought a Father’s Day gift yet the Philips Norelco SensoTouch 3D razor gets a thumbs up from everyone in our house especially dad!

I love these fun facts from Philips Norelco. It sums up what being a new dad is all about! I’m exclusively breastfeeding so we haven’t spent 10 times more on formula than beer…but my hubby has made up for it buy buying lots of beer! LOL!

Good night all! …and Good Night Moon!

Plush Baby Show

Thanks to Happy Family Happy Mama Brooke for our tickets to the PLUSH Baby Show. He couldn’t wait to open his Happy Pouch!

Image

We had a great time and got to see some exciting new products and amazing baby gear. Some of our favorite exhibitors were Happy Family, Ergobaby, Pediped, Weleda,Baby Jogger and Daddy Scrubs.

The Pump Station did an amazing job on the nursing lounge. It was so comfy and I absolutely love the Luna Lullaby nursing pillows. And I have to say…Cindy from the Pump Station makes the best cookies! The peanut butter ones are my favorite!

I was also excited to try Milkin’ Cookies. I only had a quarter of the oatmeal chocolate chip so I didn’t notice an increase in milk supply but they were definitely very yummy (and chewy)! But I will definitely be picking some up in the near future!

We had a great family Sunday at the Plush Baby Show (with lots and lots of swag) and can’t wait until next year!

First Father’s Day

It’s my husband’s first Father’s Day and I wanted to get him an extra special gift from me and C. He is seriously one of the hardest people to shop for because he is really picky and likes to buy stuff when it is on sale.

I went through the list in my head. The first thing that popped into my mind was Star Wars…maybe a book or figure? But I wouldn’t even know which one to get let alone what’s a good price. What about a car cleaning kit? BBQ grilling set? New clothes? No, no, no…I wanted the perfect gift to make his first Father’s Day extra special. Then it came to me! A fancy electric razor!

Image

It was the perfect gift! My husband has never splurged on beauty essentials and this will be his first electric shaver. Second, he cut his face pretty bad TWICE in the last month. The razor (which will go unnamed) had one of the blades pop out and cut his face…the replacement blade from the same pack did it too! It was pretty bad; I reported it and sent the razor back to the company to investigate.

I did some research and found the Philips Norelco SensoTouch 3D shaver. I liked this one for my husband because of the three shave track flex, tilt and pivot system creating a faster, closer shave (and no more blades popping up and cutting him!) This is great because he shaves at least three a week for work and the less time he spends getting ready in the mornings means more time for him to sleep in. The LED screen in the front is perfect for his early (4:30 am) weekday morning routine – great for tired eyes because it will easily tell him when to clean, replace the head and battery life! He’s such an amazing dad because even after a long 10 work day he comes home and plays with our son. I love that it can be used wet or dry and it has a cordless shaving option – great for if he wants to shave in the vanpool during his hour commute.

I can’t wait to give him this awesome gift! I know he is going to be thrilled! Baby C and I can’t wait to give him lots of kisses after he tries his new Philips Norelco SensoTouch 3D razor!

Tomorrow (June 11, 2013) +How To Be A Dad along with @AVENT_US and @ShaveExperts will be partying on Twitter at 8 PM ET.  I’m so excited to chat with these fun guys to talk about “new dads”! Join the conversation at #NorelcoDads to #win great prizes! Tweet you then!
